Birth (100 minutes)
My alternative title would be: Honey, I'm Home
SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 3, SEE IT
Who is in it?:
NICOLE KIDMAN, DANNY HUSTON, LAUREN BACALL, ANNE HECHE, CAMERON BRIGHT
What is it about?
Anna's (NICOLE KIDMAN) husband died 10 years ago. She is now engaged to Joseph (DANNY HUSTON) when all of a sudden a 10-year-old boy named Sean (CAMERON BRIGHT) shows up in her apartment. He claims that he is her husband reincarnated. I shouldn't tell you more.
When and Where does this movie take place?
Manhattan
Why see it? Birth is bold and interesting and intelligently made. It is seriously adult in nature by its subject matter. It is flawed but still psychologically appealing
How about the kids?
No way, "R" for sexuality.
Video Pick of the Week
Garden State, When a man (ZACH BRAFF) returns to his home town for his mother's funeral, he stops taking his antidepressants, meets a girl and his live gets very interesting. NATALIE PORTMAN stars and is excellent. Rated "R." You'll enjoy!
Next week, we'll review, In Good Company with SCARLETT JOHANSSON and DENNIS QUAID. A man's life gets complicated when his new very young boss falls for his very cute daughter.
John Fischetti can be heard Friday's on the Wayne Perkey show on Oldies 103, WRKA and can be reached at fischettij@uncw.edu
