Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (150 minutes)
My alternative title would be: Use the Force, Harry.
SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 3, See It
Who is in it?:
DANIEL RADCLIFFE, RUBERT GRINT, RALPH FIENNES, EMMA WATSON, ROBBIE COLTRAIN
What is it about?
Harry (DANIEL RADCLIFFE) is haunted by nightmares that might spell doom. Meanwhile, he is "volunteered" by someone to compete in the Triwizard Tournament and this is the heart of the movie. The tournament is very risky business and could lead to death. Harry reluctantly is Hogwarts's representative. One of the best scenes ever filmed is the competition with dragons and Harry's battle with the horn-tailed dragon.
When and Where does this movie take place?
At Hogwarts and neighboring lands.
Why see it? Harry is really cool and this movie is really good. It lacks greatness in part because of the length of the J.K. Rowling book and what they decided to leave out, particularly the school classroom scenes that I really like from the other movies. Visually stunning, the movie sets us up well for the next installments. If you don't know anything about Harry, this movie will leave you confused.
How about the kids?
PG-13 for frightening scenes, really scary for little ones.
Video Pick of the Week
March of the Penguins is amazing, Wayne. A documentary worth your time. AMAZING filming.
Next week, we'll review, Pride and Prejudice, the new interpretation of the great JANE AUSTIN novel.
John Fischetti can be heard Friday's on the Wayne Perkey show on Oldies 103, WRKA and can be reached at fischettij@uncw.edu
