Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (110 minutes)
My alternative title would be: Not Quite Out of this World?

SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 2, WAIT and RENT

Who is in it?:
MARTIN FREEMAN, MOS DEF, SAM ROCKWELL

What is it about?
MARTN FREEMAN is Arthur who learns that the Earth is about to be destroyed in order to build a freeway in space. Yes, you read that right, Wayne. Fortunately his alien friend (MOS DEF) figures out a way they can beam to a passing space ship to escape the inevitable doom. Once on board they get to another ship and now they are now permanent hitchhikers.

When and Where does this movie take place?
This is a sci-fi adventure that starts on Earth and then takes off.

Why see it? This is a wacky and crazy story based on the books by the same name. True book fans may like this, Wayne, and I did find it intriguing. I just don't think that it has enough going for it to hold our attention. It is more or an idea than a movie and, so, I recommend it as a rental.

How about the kids?
PG for some intensity and action...nothing that isn't on TV.

Phantom of the Opera This is the classic Broadway musical on the big screen with a grand, larger-than-life production. Erik (GERARD BUTLER) haunts the underground in Paris in 1870, and is a main focus under the Opera House. He tutors a young soprano, Christine (EMMY ROSSUM), who becomes a real star. The Phantom becomes violently jealous when a childhood sweetheart of Christine, Raoul (PATRICK WILSON), enters the picture as a patron of the Opera House. If you loved the musical you'll love the movie—although BUTLER is really a weak singer.

Next week, we'll review, Crash with DON CHEADLE, MATT DILLON and SANDRA BULLOCK and intense look at how diverse people are on a crash course with one another. Looks intense.
