Ocean's Twelve (125 minutes)
My alternative title would be: Grand Theft Hollywood

SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 2, WAIT AND RENT

Who is in it?:
JULIA ROBERTS, GEORGE CLOONEY, BRAD PITT, MATT DAMON, CATHERINE ZETA-JONES, ANDY GARCIA, ELIOTT GOULD, BERNIE MAC, CARL REINER, DON CHEADLE, SHAOBO, QIN

What is it about?
Terry Benedict (ANDY GARCIA) is not a happy camper and has spent the past three years tracking down the Ocean's Eleven group that snookered him and his casinos for $160 million. Meanwhile, the special police of Europe (led by CATHERINE ZETA-JONES) are looking for bad guys in some of the right and wrong places. When they converge, the boys are back with a twelfth member (JULIA ROBERTS) to plan three separate heists to get the money back to Benedict or else (we're never quite sure what that means). Once again the team includes the smart Ocean (CLOONEY) and his sidekicks from PITT to DAMON. The big job involves a valuable jeweled egg and the rival, "Night Fox."

When and Where does this movie take place?
Across Europe, from Amsterdam to Rome to Paris.

Why see it? Ocean's Twelve is fun and well done. Filmed in a much less glossy way than Eleven, the story is told jumping forward and backward in time. STEPHEN SODERBERG again directs this one and chooses to make this really a giant cast party, with the stars enjoying themselves so much that the party seems to be interrupted every now and then to make a movie. Rich with humor and nice plot devices, this story is ultimately a great rental down the road a couple of months, but so forgettable that it reminds me of an episode of the TV show, "Joey," cute but not really anything but filler. WAIT AND RENT this one, Wayne. I liked it but when I woke up this morning from seeing it, I had already moved on. Good movies stay with you a bit longer than overnight.

How about the kids?
Rated "PG-13" for language. Not bad for kids but young ones will be confused by the back-and-forth of time.

Video Pick of the Week
Lost in Translation is a great movie. BILL MURRAY and SCARLETT JOHANSEN star as a couple trapped by circumstances in a hotel in Japan for a week. Their relationship evolves to a deep friendship short of an affair and allows them to reinvigorate their lives.

Next week, we'll review, Flight of the Phoenix, with DENNIS QUAID as the leader of a group of oil rig men who crash in the desert and have to try to re-build their plane from scratch.

John Fischetti can be heard Friday's on the Wayne Perkey show on Oldies 103, WRKA and can be reached at fischettij@uncw.edu
