SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 3, SEE IT

Who is in it?:
MATHEW MCCONAUGHEY, PENELOPE CRUZ, WILLIAM MACY, LAMBERT WILSON, STEVE ZAHN

What is it about?
There is a confederate ship that somehow now is at the bottom of sand in the Sahara. MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY is Dirk, on a mission to find this lost treasure. He and his buddy STEVE ZAHN find a plague is occurring when they get there and a doctor (PENELOPE CRUZ) fighting the disease. There are multiple chases and all kinds of danger and it is all absurd EXCEPT it kinds of takes you and grabs you and holds your interest.

When and Where does this movie take place?
It says, Sahara, is that a hint?

Why see it? This certainly isn't as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark. But it is fun and escapist and you'll like it. Suspend your disbelief at the door. The confederate ship thing, the plague and all of the chases...just go on the ride.

How about the kids?
PG-13 for action violence

House of Flying Daggers. This is a beautifully filmed movie that is captivating in its Chinese history and its superb cinematography. If you liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or Hero, you'll like this movie.
