The Forgotten (91 minutes)
My alternative title would be: 1, Lost Cause

SUPER MOVIE FAN'S RECOMMENDATION: 1, FOGEDDABOUTIT

Who is in it?:
JULIANNE MOORE, GARY SINESE, ALFRE WOODARD, DOMINIC WEST

What is it about?
JULIANNE MOORE is Telly, a grieving mom who can't get over the loss of her eight-year-old son in a plane crash. As time goes on, memories of the son are wiped away and people around her all claim she had a miscarriage and that the child never existed. Then another parent who lost a daughter in the same crash claims his child never existed either until he starts to remember. Chase scenes with FEDS and some supernatural forces enter in and this movie loses its original premise. I won't tell you the ending, Wayne.

When and Where does this movie take place?
New York City (several chase scenes take us all around New York).

Why see it? DON'T SEE THIS, WAYNE. An interesting idea—a woman loses her child in a plane crash and then everyone around her convinces her that the child never existed—is lost in a sci-fi alien adventure. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

How about the kids?
Rated PG-13 (for intense thematic material, some violence and brief language).

Video Pick of the Week
The Alamo
was very under-rated, Wayne when it was on the big screen. This movie is about the stubbornness of men, a fight for independence, the horror of war, the pain of death and how one event can turn the tide of history—even when it didn't need to take place. There is lots of land in Texas and great opportunity—and, oh yes, that stubborn Santa Anna. Telling the tale of the Alamo from the perspective of Davy Crockett is a good touch. Starting with Kentucky and Tennessee connections, we see that Texas is a place in transition. And Crockett can't live up to his reputation made so famous in the tales about his leaping rivers and skinning bears alive. He is looking for a new start. Long and slow in parts, it mimics the two-week wait until the death. While we may have expected non-stop action and some steamy love scenes to jazz things up, The Alamo the movie, recreates the tortuous wait until the inevitable battle. I will remember this movie always, Wayne. The history is one that reminds us all about the price of freedom and the horrible events that have shaped our rise as a powerful nation. The acting is excellent, especially BILLY BOB THORNTON and DENNIS QUAID. See it on a day you're not sleepy, cause you have to go to battle for 13 days and it gets long.

Next week, we'll review, Ladder 49. This is the first BIG movie of the fall. JOHN TRAVOLTA and JOAQUIN PHOENIX in a story about the business of firefighting and the men and women who risk their lives every day.

John Fischetti can be heard Friday's on the Wayne Perkey show on Oldies 103, WRKA and can be reached at fischettij@uncw.edu
